Located in Ilha Grande, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Lopes Mendes Beach is one of Brazil's most famous and sought-after beaches. With its 3 kilometers of white sand and crystal-clear water, the beach is a true paradise for nature and tranquility lovers. History: Lopes Mendes Beach was named after Father Lopes Mendes, who was one of the first to arrive on the island in the 1920s. The beach began to be discovered by tourists in the 60s and 70s, but is still considered a preserved place with little infrastructure. Originally, the beach was used as a timber export port, which led to the deforestation of much of the island. Fortunately, in 1967 the island was declared a national park and timber extraction was prohibited in the area, allowing the rainforest to grow back. Over time, the beach became a popular spot for surfers due to its impressive waves. It's also a common spot for day trips, as it's located on an island that can be accessed by boat from the coast.
